Okay so im his wifey and i dont mind but.....?

Well...my friend calls me his wifey and i consider it play but people get the idea that were dating...and im not sure if he actually likes me like that...and when people ask who im going out with i dont wanna hurt his feelings if he really does like me...What should i do?Ask him if he likes me?But i dont like him like that!I like to date people who i feel more about yeah?And with him its just Bff's(?) So really how do i confront this situation?
