Why are some females SO close to their friends...?

I've known women like that. They called each other "wifey", sat on each others laps, they'd grind on each other on the dance floor and they made out with each other in pictures. But they called themselves straight and both had boyfriends. The only thing that comes to mind is that they wanted attention.
